Christian from Long Island

As long as I can remember the only thing I truly loved was
seeing bands play. At sometime I decided to make it my life. Since I had no talent to speak, all I can really do was
set some shows up, and that's pretty much become my life.
I probably go to 150 concerts/shows a year, some I'm behind, some I'm just a fan. I got stories about both, and some tales about my life as well.. read up

Shoppers Village

Ive lived in this town for basically my whole functioning life. When I was younger a good portion of the time spent outside my house was at shoppers village. It was a flea market that was in my town and opened in the early 80’s. Cleaner that most flea markets, it looked like a dept. store filled with booth’s and most of the stuff was stuff you would find at mall kiosks.

If you grew up in this town, shoppers was a place for a lot of firsts.. First place you can go to w/o parents, first date, first cassette or record bought, first band t-shirt,first fight. A ton of different things. My first job was there.. I sold pickles for ed who ran the pickle people booth.

My dad dropped me off there for my first non parent hang out when I was 5th grade.

I asked my catholic school 8th grade gf on our first date there..

I bought my first batch of x-mas presents there.

Anyway, shoppers village re-opened after 14 years.. haha it doesnt really make sense.. Its closed down in 95 to become wholesale liquidators. Earlier this year when liquidators closed down shop, someone had the idea to put shoppers village back. Its a really weird thing. How often do business come back after being gone for that long, and look exactly the same.. I mean it looks exactly the same..haha I guess everyone has recurring dreams from spots where they went a lot as kids.. For years I would always have funny dreams there and I assume lots of people from my town do.haha.

When I walked in there today it was the freakiest deja vu experience. I was just giggling cause it was so weird and a few people looked at me and felt the weirdness. The pickle booth isnt there and some other key ones are missing butt, in true flea market fashion the “sword” both ( yes sword both),the air brush guy and tons of jewlers are in full effect. My friend Adam who was my boy in elementary school opened up a skate booth there.. Its awesome
